Customize Your Snapback Hats As An Evergreen Statement Accessory

A Snapback hat is a term used to describe an adjustable flat brimmed, fitted baseball cap which can be adjusted by the snap buttons at the back. Although they are like baseball caps, they are less expensive than fitted baseball caps worn by professionals and have become a trendy fashion item amongst the young urban class. Cultural icons such as Michael Jordan and 2pac have all rocked the snapback hats really well. Brixton hats are some of the classiest hats around. Snapback hats are genuinely one of the most popular street fashion items of all time. If you think that wearing a snapback hat is only about sun protection, you are mistaken. Snapback hats are all about making a statement.

Since its burst into the fashion scene in the early 90’s, snapback and visor hats have stayed a consistent fashion icon throughout the pop culture and are still celebrating a strong resurgence. The truth is that snapback hat fashion is never going to die out for as long as hip hop culture lives.

So if you want to customize your snapback hats as an evergreen statement accessory, here are a few guidelines.

1. Button

The button is placed on top of the hat joining all the panels together. It is also called the Nib at the top. On most hats, the button is the same color as the brim but you can always get a customized hat with a button color of your own choice.

2. Stitching

The stitching joins all the panels together with thread. Generally, the stitching thread is the same color as the crown of panels, but to a custom snapback design, you can always add a thread of contrast.

3. Eyelets

There ar small holes in the crown known as the eyelets. They provide breathing room inside the fitted cap. They can also be of the same color as the crown or bill or a color of your choice.

4. Brim

The brim is not just there to keep the sun out of your eyes, it is there to make a statement to your fashion accessory. Although flat brim snapbacks are a common style, but you can always get a curved brim snapback cap.

5. Crown

The main bulk or the head of the cap is known as the crown. The crown consists of panels that are stitched together to make a perfect snapback. Most snapbacks consist of 6 panels but it is not unusual to get 4 or 7 panels to snapback to give it a boxed look. It can be a low profile snapback fitted closer to your head or high profile with a deeper fit to your head.

6. Sweat Band

The sweat band usually pops up all the sweat from your head and is usually black to avoid showing stains. But it can be a color of your choice.

7. Seam Tape

Seam tape provides a link between panels to provide some surface to stitch together the panels. Printed seam tapes look chic and add great detail to your custom snapback hats.

8. Buckram

Although unstructured hats are great for a true old school style or promotion hat, a structured hat gives snapbacks their signature shape. The buckram is made from heavy canvas which is further starched to provide stiffness.

9. Underbrim

As the name suggests, an under-brim is under the brim. A contrasting under brim looks classic as a nod to the ninety’s when the craze for snapbacks began. Almost all snapbacks come with a green under-brim.
